DELOITTE, TOUCHE TOMATSU

Appraisal of ZSNP aluminium smelting works, Slovak Republic
 
An initial environmental audit in conjunction with management consultants’ Deloitte Touche Tomatsu was undertaken on behalf of their clients, the ZSNP Alumina Smelting Works at their plant in Ziar-Nad-Hronom, in the Slovak Republic.

ZSNP was seeking funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development for a new aluminium smelting plant.

The audit assessed all aspects of the existing plant operations, including
conditions relating to air emissions, and land and groundwater impacts from the refinery caustic residue storage areas.

Recommendations were made for disclosure requirements of identified
environmental impacts to assist in the venture.
